CHANGE OF NAME |
|
Generally speaking you can call yourself whatever name you want. However, it is extremely useful to have some paperwork available to prove that you are using a particular name. Usually that paperwork is a birth certificate or marriage certificate. However, if you want to use a completely new name then it is best to sign a Change of Name Deed that can be used to prove to any individual or Authority (e.g. Inland Revenue, Bank, Building Societies, Insurance Companies, etc.) that you are using a particular name. |
| As well as changing your own name you can change your children's names, but it is important that the parties with parental responsibility agree to the change of a child's surname. You should also think very carefully about the likely effects on your life by changing your or your children's name. |
| If you would like a Change of Name Deed prepared then we can help. We charge £41.14 inclusive of v.a.t. for each Change of Name Deed. If you would like us to sort things out then please complete the questionnaire below, then follow the instructions with regard to payment. |
